"And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers..." Malachi 4:6

It's about time for an update...

Everyone has heard that we are on the adoption journey once again and have been for quite some time. It started out as committing to one little boy in 2011, and somehow ended up to be three! This is not the first time it happened. After God heavily laid it on our hearts to adopt again in 2009, starting with two on our home study, it ended up being four. We brought five children home in 2010 (one through disruption six months after the first four). I'm not sure how the Lord does it, I only know our hearts are open and willing. We are very blessed to have each and every one of them and cannot imagine life without them! Every time we've been down this path, the Lord blesses immensely! You cannot understand it, until you have experienced it.

By the time a family grows to this number of children, people start to criticize. People question how you can possibly love and care for that many children. My question to them, "How many orphans have you added to your family?" Why not add at least one to your family? There are 147 million orphans- why not help provide a family for at least one desperate child? In my opinion, it is impossible to adopt too many children.  The need is far greater than the amount of families willing to commit and step out in faith.

Our children are healing from various difficult issues; such as, sexual abuse, starvation, physical abuse, attachment disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Praise the Lord, they are healing and thriving!  Some can't understand how we can cope with these issues. When you meet our children, their happiness and healing is evident.  I pray that more people follow God's direction and ask what they can do for the orphan crisis in the world. That they may adopt a child in desperate need, or help someone else who has been called to adopt a child.

Then he said to them, "Anyone who welcomes a little child like this on my behalf, welcomes me. And anyone who welcomes me also welcomes my father who sent me. Whoever is the least among you, is the greatest".  Luke 9:48

I have been told so many times, "Those kids should be free!"  No, they shouldn't be free. Yes, is should be less expensive! But, there is always a cost for redemption. Agency fees, in-country process fees, travel costs, passport and visa fees...the cost is often monumental.  Please pray for God to lead you to help in some way...open your hearts and ask Him what you can do.... whether it is adoption, foster care, or supporting another family's adoption.  However God leads you, be prepared to receive the greatest blessing of your life!

Pictures above are Gabriel Wilsmith James (2), his brother Daniel James Fritzly (now 8), and Scarlet Rose (8). The three newest, soon-to-be Hewitts!
